Reclamation

"Reclamation" is a mixed media fiber sculpture inspired by my time spent at Acadia National Park for an Artist Residency in 2023. I spent my time there studying the mosses and lichen that built the landscape I hiked through,

photographing and drawing the different ways decay exploded into a riot of growth across the forest floor. The more time I spent in those forests, the more the fallen logs became bodies, bodies in the process of being

absorbed into the soil and reborn through the reefs of fungi and flora that emerged from them. Reclamation is a vision of the end, of the entangled threads that pull everything back into the earth and the

organisms that work to decompose, to recycle and to reclaim. There are no real borders between us and our environment, we are not separate from the land around it, we are of it and will be reclaimed by it.
