The final project will take inspiration from local pollinators and flora, and the completed sculpture will be unveiled at a reception in October. Learn how to paint and sculpt with thread during this introductory embroidery workshop for teens! During the workshop, students will learn the basics of embroidery, from threading a needle to creating french knots. The main focus will be on creating an embroidery sampler, a textile that will lay out all the different techniques and different stitches we will cover in the class and provide a reference for those techniques for future embroidery projects!

Students will be able to keep their tools and some materials to continue their embroidery journey on their own.

Learn the basics of warping a frame loom and plain weave along with a series of more artful and organic stitches that create beautiful patterns and textures within the textile. Explore weaving with not only yarn but upcycled fabrics and wool roving to add variation to each piece. The class also covers the basics of taking the piece off the loom, finishing the ends and how to attach a hanger. There will be a one hour break for lunch at 12:30. Alll materials provided.
